Blessings to You and Yours From Michael Barrett.
As we close out 2014, moving into the New Year, let’s take some time to remember goodness.
Share your blessings, it is a art form.
Think back on moments worth remembering, and the kindness of other people this last year. Remember where little children smiled and warmed our hearts, where pets made us laugh, where friends called and said just the right thing that we needed to hear. Remember the wonder of life.
This is the season of blessings, joy and gratitude; the time for companionship with family and close friends.
As we share those moments remember to send out a message of love to those among us, less fortunate, who are lonely or need comfort or encouragement. Many times people do not ask for help and sometimes they really need it. Notice these things, where you can, and offer yours without being asked. It really makes a difference. It has for me, every time.
It is the season for joy and also the season for compassion.
Practice being nice. Buy a cup of coffee for the next person in line or pay the toll for the car behind you. If you have the means, give a warm coat to someone who is cold, a meal to someone who is hungry, a hug to someone who really needs one.
Visit a neighbor who lives alone and take them a pie, or a flower or a card and look into their hearts and see the love inside them, the same love that lives in each of us. Reach into their hearts and if you can, make their light shine a little bit brighter.
Show up. Be there – just because…
Be grateful for your health, a warm bed and a full stomach and wherever you go, share the gentle and forgotten art of blessings.
